PACKAGING DESIGN ENGINEER  
 

Compadre is looking for an experienced Packaging Design Engineer to deliver packaging design projects for manufactured products as part of the company's continued growth and success. This person must bring energy, leadership, organization, innovation, and design experience to facilitate the delivery of material products.

 
TASKS/SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  • Packaging project management to design, evaluate, and select transportation packaging materials for customer products.
  • Work from Sales and/or Account Manager guidelines to develop packaging concepts, specifications, and written analysis for customer products.
  • Communicate to existing and potential customers of the most efficient packaging procedures, cost reduction ideas, and innovations in materials.
  • Work with packaging suppliers to prototype samples of packaging designs with Design Center materials and supplier support.
  • Conduct ISTA transportation testing and verify performance of packaging concepts.
  • Consult with internal teams to determine costs and feasibility of supplying packaging materials.
  • Assist Supply Chain Management team verify new packaging suppliers and maintain quality of existing suppliers.
  • Position affords great latitude in creativity and decision-making and contributes directly to company success.
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Organizational Responsibilities:
Position is primarily packaging design and project management with no supervision responsibilities.
 
Education & Experience:

B.S. in Packaging Engineering required with 5-10 years packaging experience.  A strong track record of successful new packaging design launches within consumer electronics companies is required for this position.
 

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:
  •   Experienced in design with applicable packaging materials and processes; corrugated, molded & fabricated foam, thermoforming, folding cartons, molded pulp, and printing processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise and project management of packaging designs to develop electronics packaging.
  • Must have an understanding of post-manufacturing packaging materials and transport logistics.
  • Must have the ability to work independently, be a motivated self-starter, and excellent follow-through skills.
  • Possess exceptional communication, organization, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to create professionally constructed documents, reports, technical documents and presentations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities through project management methods.
  • Working knowledge to operate ISTA transportation testing equipment.
  • Must be proactive and dedicated about assuming responsibility and understanding needs of the company.
  • Working knowledge of SCORE!, ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, CAPE , Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and related software applications experience
